Artist Statement

I am a self-taught artist and began this journey only 8 years ago. It was an instinctive response born out of a need to capture and express thoughts and feelings in ways that did not involve the structure of words.

Much of my work is multi-dimensional, highly textured abstract design incorporating mixed medias and organic, man-made or found materials including metals, glass, gemstones, wood, bark, leaves, granite, resin, clay, cloth, paper and more.

I am inspired by the colors, contrasts, shapes, textures, dynamics, and energy found in nature and give life to the impressions and emotions these evoke for me through abstract sculptural paintings.  I enjoy working and experimenting with a wide range of materials and styles to achieve visually stimulating pieces that almost compel one to reach out and touch.

I currently live in Saratoga Springs, NY surrounded by the beauty of the Adirondacks and enjoy hiking, biking, cooking, and savoring all that the area has to offer when not painting or relaxing with Louie and Minx, my two feline design assistants.
